POPIWA

The Collection dedicated to the Popiwa Group - Ataca y La Alemana, Willy y Noura & El Tiguere y Bianca

In the Dominican Republic, the latest generations of young people use slang to express two social concepts that have always been deeply rooted in Dominican culture and that, unintentionally, reflect the history of bachata, both old and new.

The social meaning is broader, however, so let's take a step back and stay general:

The POPIS

They would belong to a wealthy social class, or to people who behave in a refined, elegant manner, and always remain in terms of high class.

Los WAWAWA

They reflect the most popular, simple, even poor version, or simply more “street” or “barrio” (the callejera people), rural.
